The Groove Library

Curated mixes, themed libraries, and guest contributions from West Wales and beyond.

What it is

The Groove Library makes mixes and themed music collections. Afro-funk, Mediterranean downtempo, Japanese jazz-fusion, island rhythms, cosmic disco, and plenty more besides. Each mix comes with tracklists and context so you know what you're listening to.

From Easton to West Wales

The Groove Library grew out of Easton Chop Up, a mix series and occasional pub night that ran for over ten years in Easton, Bristol. Late nights, good records, and a room where people came to listen and dance.

When life moved to West Wales, the music came too. The Easton Chop Up archive is still here as the foundation.

Mixes, libraries, and what's coming

There are four libraries so far: Afro, Balearic, Islands, and Japan, each organised around geography, genre, or mood. More to follow.

Listening sessions and a journal of writing are both in the works.

Rooted local, connected wide

Based in Carmarthenshire, West Wales. A long way from the cities where most of this music was made, but connected to the people and scenes behind it. The network runs from Bristol to Lagos, Tokyo to Kingston.

Guest contributions are welcome. If any of this sounds like your kind of thing, get in touch.
